Hearthlist Digest #120 - Thursday, March 5, 1998 Great Stove Changeout by Skip <[email protected]> HPA's EXPO '98 by Susan Kalish <[email protected]>
(back) Subject: Great Stove Changeout From: "Skip" <[email protected]> Date: Wed, 4 Mar 1998 22:53:58 -0400 Now that Northern California's first Great Stove Changeout is over, (and I finally have free time) I'd like to publicly thank two people who really worked their tails off to make it such an overwhelming success. Jay Hansen and Jo Lynne Hoy did an incredible job of coordinating this effort between at least 29 different air quality management districts, several public utilities, and just about every hearth retailer in N. Cal. The numbers of stoves sold due to their work has really made for an incredible first quarter for hearth retailers here, and I'm sure that the air pollution control officers will be stunned by the numbers of old, smoky stoves that were removed from N. Cal's airshed. Manufacturers having great first quarters in California should thank Jay and Jo Lynne for the tremendous amount of work that they have done for them, and buy them a beer or lunch in St. Louis. I know that Sierra Timberline is deeply indebted to them and their support staff for what appears to be a record Q1 for us. If anybody has a question about whether their chapter dues are an expense or an investment, just ask me! Thanks guys. Skip Stahmer Sierra Timberline Grass Valley, CA
(back) Subject: HPA's EXPO '98 From: Susan Kalish <[email protected]> Date: Thu, 5 Mar 1998 11:48:22 -0400 As with HEARTH, HPA member plans to attend HPA's education sessions in St. Louis are ahead of last year. Badge sales are almost 20% higher than this time last year - and on-site education badge purchases are always brisk. To borrow from Ed Sullivan, HPA is expecting a "really big show." There will be more exhibitors (356) and more square footage of products at this HPA show than ever before. It's not too late if you want to attend or know of anyone who would like to attend. In order to arrange for your badge to be available on-site at the Pre-Registration Badge Pick-Up counter you must register with Galaxy by close of business tomorrow, March 6. However, on-site registration is easy and welcome. The registration area is open Tuesday, March 17 from 7 am to 5 pm to enable you to get settled before all the activities begin. There are still slots available in the two new Professional Hearth Dealer Program day-long courses, "Developing and Managing a Profitable Service Department (Wednesday, March 18)" and "Hiring, Retaining and Empowering Employees (Thursday, March 19)." If you wish to attend either of these courses, please contact HPA directly. As always, the HPA staff is happy to answer your questions and get you prepared for the show. We can be reached at 703-522-0086 (phone), 703-522-0548 (fax) or e-mail, [email protected].
