You are probably noticing the difference between pumice bricks and clay bricks when talking about the weight. Clay bricks are heavier and yellow. Pumice are lighter and usually gray. Look up building supply houses ( even Home Depot )in the yellow pages, ask for refractory pavers and give them your dimensions. I prefer the clay bricks, they seem to last longer, are more durable, and probably hold more heat longer because they are more dense. Raymond D.
