Great Computer Deals

(back) Subject: Great Computer Deals From: Craig Issod <[email protected]> Date: Fri, 2 Jan 1998 23:58:27 -0400   As usual I was heavily reprimanded for my recent comments on Windows 95. I did not post these dialogs due to the "boring" factor...that is, many on the list don't care about operating systems and such things   One point made by Roger Sanders was that Macs are double and triple the price of the no-name PC Clones he was buying. Without comments on the accuracy (or lack of) such a statement, I am completely amazed at some of the recent computer deals out there. At these prices, every member of the family and business should have their own!   Compaq announced a new model listing at $699.00 ! and...Acer and HP (and others) have lines under the $900. price point. This type of pricing COULD make a Mac head like me jealous....   I say COULD, since my dear wife Martha negotiated a deal on a new Mac today that might have those PC fans picking up a spare one for the side of the desk. We were able to buy, at OfficeMax a Mac Performa 6400/200 (equal to Pentium 200 MHZ) WITh the color monitor for $700.00. Definitely a deal ! Yes, it's a display model, but full warranty applies. If we wanted it new in the box, we'd have paid $899 instead....   If you are a Mac fan, and want such deals, check out the sites such as deal-mac at http://deal-mac.com - I'm sure PC users have a bunch of similar sites which track all the best deals and links on the net.   The only question now is...how low will they go?
