Our installers claim that they do not care for it because they have heard that it is harder to work with, many times taking two people to fit it. My assumption of this is that they are apprehensive because it is new. I appreciate any feedback. On another note, the Homebuilders show this past weekend was a real eye opener for me. I did not realize how hot the hearth industy is right now. "X" is now a rep for "Z". "Y" bought manufacturer "Z". It is rumored that manufacturer "A", which purchased "P" a couple of years ago, is buying Distributors B and C. "A" claims just a rumor. "P" claims just a rumor. "X", "Y', and "Z" all claim that it is a done deal and it will kill the rest of us (keep it mind that they are competitors). The sories go on and on. The bottom line is that the industry will continue to mature, and will bring along change. These changes could be very bad for all of us. These changes, whatever they are, will also present to us alot of opportunity. Whether you believe that things will worsen, or, you believe that a bright light lies on the horizon..........you're right!!! We choose at our Company to believe that there is a very bright future in the Hearth industry, but we will need to tighten our seatbelts a little for the ride. Just my .02 worth. --=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D_-1263871573=3D=3D_ma=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D Content-Type: text/enriched; charset=3D"us-ascii" Does anybody have much real experience with the flexible flues offered by companies such as Lennox and Temco? (back) Subject: Damage liability From: "tony" <[email protected]> Date: Wed, 19 Jan 2000 11:06:17 -0500 A customer bought a vent free stove from us to be installed in a 3 season sun room. We referred him to a sub for installation and everything was done according to mfrs specs and code. Turns out, the customer has a ceiling covered with vinyl siding (don't laugh...this is fairly common in this area) and the ceiling melted! I'm exaggerating of course, but it did warp very badly and needs to be replaced (an area of about 2 square feet right above the stove). The mfr says 35" above the stove for clearance to combustibles and the customer has about 55". Is this the mfrs liability or the installers or our store or the homeowners? We're really stumped on this one........ Tony Palmer
