Hearthlist Digest #397 - Saturday, January 15, 2000 Hon Industries Purchases Retailers/Distributors by "Craig Issod" <[email protected]> Re: Are there better accounting programs? by "heat2" <[email protected]>
(back) Subject: Hon Industries Purchases Retailers/Distributors From: "Craig Issod" <[email protected]> Date: Fri, 14 Jan 2000 21:21:51 -0500 According to various sources, Hon Industries, parent company of Hearth Technologies (Heat n' Glo, Heatilator, etc) are poised to purchase the Fireside Allied Group and Thulman Eastern. I hope that a press release will be posted shortly so we can get the full and accurate story. This type of purchase represents an interesting vertical setup for the parent companies, where they produce the product and see it through to final sale and installation. Run the numbers and it looks good. Here in the east, our retail operation was never troubled by Thulman because they were primarily in the builder market. This is a market we choose to not enter due to the problems involved with giving credit to contractors and builders. In any case, the hearth market and business is continuing on a path of consolidation and growth. But where will future sales come from...who will make them? The kick-off educational session at the HPA show will be moderated by yours truly, and it will be based around the question of where future hearth sales will come from. We'll have a panel of well known experts and much of the seminar will be questions from the audience. We can't promise any conclusion, but we hope to have a good debate. If you can get to Baltimore by Tuesday at 1:30, we'll see you there! ------------------------------------------------------ Craig Issod HearthNet at http://www.hearth.com [email protected] Everything your Hearth Desires ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------

We are currently using quickbooks pro 6.0. Before we purchase a 200.00 update for it, I wondered if I should get something completely different for our PC. PS, where can I get it and what does it cost. Thanks, Andy Lazok at the heat is on Inc.
