In planning my next install, I began wondering about filters. It seems the available in-line housings for 10" cartridges are rated up to 180* and are equipped with 3/4" threads, and are pricey. If I am running 1.25" lines on the primary loop, I wouldn't want the 3/4" restriction there.
Wouldn't it work to put in a standard household version on the return side of my in-floor loops? Flows will be much lower there and the temps should never be above roughly 100*. I would still install a screen on the primary and secondary loops that should protect the pumps and keep anything capable of lodging in a 1/2" line at bay. Granted I wouldn't be filtering 100% of the water at one time, but eventually every gallon will make it's way thru it.
Also, what micron filter is appropriate?
