Dislikes: This insert has NEVER worked properly. We had it professionally installed, twice because the first team was lazy and did not do an external draw. The control module had to be replaced the first day we had it. The fan continually makes a LOUD rattling, which they have been out no less than 5 times to fix. The unit is rated to heat up to 3800 square feet. It does not even warm the room it is in. The stove shuts down to clean constantly, losing all heat it has produced. It often malfunctions and does not come back on after its cleaning regimen. This usually happens when you are gone all day or in the middle of the night when you are sleeping, leaving the area freezing cold! :-) We do have a large amount of windows in the room, but our forced air heat can heat the area in 5 minutes, the quadra fire won't even heat the room. It blows very hot air, but it doesn't heat any area. You have to stand directly in front of it to feel its heat. We have not found any real answers as to why it works so poorly. We have had nothing but problems with this stove and are very disappointed in it! If we use our stove, we have to use our other heat exactly as if we were not using the stove, so we in effect spend $250 more a month to enjoy the ambiance of having a fire. Any suggestions would be welcomed. We are currently getting ready to pursue a refund or replacement, as we have had NOTHING but problems with this stove.
Comments: Overall, we had just an old fashioned iron firebox insert prior to the quadra fire. Aside from the LARGE amount of work, wood splitting, constant feeding of the fire, etc. We were much happier with the performance of our firebox even with its highly ineffective fan!
