Likes: Soapstone isn't as slow to generate heat as some report. The Homestead can go 55 to 400 in about 30 minutes with a well built fire using good wood. Once it gets going it provides a very even and long lasting gentle heat. I would say this model is ideal for smaller homes and cabins. The stove is physically beautiful and incredibly efficient. It is also very easy to use. View of the fire is splendid. Glass is self-cleaning for the most part.

The dealer is very good, provided you can talk to the right person. They are always very busy (good for them), but it makes it hard to really get into depth with their more knowledgeable associates at times.

Dislikes: The ash pan is a joke. Just scoop the ashes. The stove will back-puff at times, but this can be mastered most of the time by fully opening the air intake and then very gradually opening the door.
I got the "fancy" enamel trim. It is nice, but it has chipped in several places already.

Comments: All in all a really well crafted, simple, efficient stove. This is my first stove, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but it is a beautiful addition to our living room and heats my small house efficiently.
