About CHI Associates

I would like to introduce you to my company, CHI ASSOCIATES. No, it's not my initials. CHI has many different meanings . Some of you may recognize it as a letter in the Greek or Latin alphabets. Others will know thats it derives from the Chinese character translated as Ki , Qi or CHI -- literally meaning "air"-- but representing the vital life force within each of us. Businesses also have a force of their own, which determines how they are perceived by customers, employees, vendors and the community. Long-Term sucessful businesses craft positive perceptions by doing things right. We cannot separate life from work. Your work and life are expressions of who and what you are. Success in todays fast moving world comes easily to those who change, learn and grow at a quicker pace. Doing things the old way just isn't good enough anymore.

• 20: Worked at Soy Dairy, exploring the uses and production of Soy milk and other soy products. Instrumental in the development of first Soy yogurt and Soy based ice creams
• 21: Vice President of demolition and salvage operation-Tore down and salvaged homes, barns and factory buildings (up to five stories). Sold recycled materials.
• 22-23: Learned carpentry and construction, worked on crew building houses, etc.
• 23-28: Started and operated successful remodeling company.
• 27-44: Started and operated Alternative Energy Business including stoves, Solar and conservation. Sold Business in 1998.
• 33-35: Bought and operated Wood stove manufacturing business- Learned the cast-iron foundry business as well as other aspects of metalworking.
• 35-40: Bought and operated importing and marketing company that sells Central Heating products. Visited Denmark twice. Introduced new products to the market successfully. Developed marketing and sales programs. Wrote Technical Manuals.
• 38-41: Invented and Patented new product--Manufactured and marketed same with first year sales exceeding projections. Sold business in 1998.
• 40-48: Created HearthNet, a top rated site on the Internet. Also created many web sites for clients inside and outside the hearth industry.
• 48-50: Currently at work on multiple projects, including new venture in the hearth business and patented inventions.

Why Am I Doing This ?

You might ask: Craig, if you did so well in all your businesses (and made money) , why do you need to start another firm?. Well, to make a long story short, I get bored easily. I have sold many of my earlier ventures and I am putting my attention into a new business and craft - that of Webmaster and Internet consultant. I work from my home office and on the road when needed.

My rates are very reasonable. I can also work at reduced rates (or even free!) for startups, individuals and non-profit or volunteer organizations. My recent non-profit work involved setting up a complete computer lab and network at the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington County We got Steve Wozniak (The Woz), a founder of Apple Computer, to help with the first donation for the project.

I also volunteered as an advisor, teacher and trainer at Hopework 'N Camden, an org that teaches technology to disadvantaged youth in Camden, NJ. Subjects that I taught include digital video, digital photography and PHP/MySql programming.
